Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

These terms govern your use of Go By The Numbers (“we,” “us,” the “Service”) at gobythenumbers.com. By using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

What the Service is

We produce an operating audit for a small business from public information and reviewed industry operating ranges. There is a free report and an optional one-time paid audit ($79). The audit is a decision-support tool to help you see how your business compares — it is not accounting, legal, tax, medical, or investment advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional.

Estimates and no guarantee of results

Many figures in a report are estimates, and we label them as estimates and show the math behind them so you can check our work. We don't warrant that any figure is exact, and we make no promise about the financial results you will achieve by acting on a report. Use your own judgment before making business decisions.

The paid audit and refunds

The paid audit is a one-time purchase, not a subscription — there is nothing to cancel. Payment is processed by Stripe. If the audit doesn't find you at least $79 worth of value, email us and we'll refund it.

Your content

You may optionally upload documents for the paid audit. You keep ownership of what you upload, and you grant us a limited licence to process it solely to produce your report. You confirm you have the right to share it, and you agree not to upload anything containing your customers' personal data. We delete the original files within 90 days.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Intellectual property

The Service, our industry research, benchmarks, and report format are our intellectual property. Your report is yours to use for your own business.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (and, for the free report, to zero). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits.

Third-party links

A report or our pages may link to third-party services (for example a recommended web-design studio). We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, services, or practices; visiting them is at your own discretion.

Changes and termination

We may update these terms; we'll change the date above when we do, and continued use means you accept the update. We may suspend access that violates these terms.
